I should have known better than to go to this salon. something told me that it would not go well, but there I was and truth be told it was a nice place, restful music and lighting, all of the touches that say be prepared to pay. My stylist was young and looked a lot like Adam Lambert. That should have sent off alarm bells but no, I let him work away despite that fact that there seemed to be no mirrors around so I could not see what was going on.
Pretty soon it was blow dry and finish up time.
"Ready?"
"Just so I don't look like Jamie Lee Curtis," I replied.
"Not a chance, hon!"
He was right, Jamie Lee Curtis only wished she looked this good! First thing I noticed when a mirror appeared before me was that my hair was a full lush brown and my face had lost about 40 years. The perfect makeup for the look had been applied, but the hair. OMG An asymmetrical buzz and long bang cut. I was androgynous gorgeous! I was also strangely unaffected by the shift from the 60+ year old man that I am to the 30's boyish lesbian that I saw in the mirror!
I really wished that I could have stayed asleep with that one running a bit longer just to see where it would go. What is it with dreams anyhow that the strangest things are OK, like looking back from the mirror and seeing someone else but "knowing" that it is you, but being afraid at the same time of things less drastic?
